How much better will the performance be in my dell laptop if I upgrade from 2gb of RAM to 4gb? Is it worth it?
Question by Greg G: How much better will the performance be in my dell laptop if I upgrade from 2gb of RAM to 4gb? Is it worth it?
I bought my laptop in 2006 and I was wondering if it’s worth it to spend the money to buy more RAM. Will the performance difference be noticeable?

Probably not. You’re confusing RAM with performance. More RAM does NOT mean more performance. More RAM simply means more RAM. If you’re using RAM intensive applications, you’ll see a performance increase, but if not you won’t see any difference at all.
Also, you’re probably only running a 32-bit operating system. You won’t be able to fully utilize all 4GBs of RAM. You’ll only be able to see about 3GBs of RAM instead.

It’s not really that noticeable but the option is there and you can brag about it
The improvement in performance will probably only be noticeable if you play lots of games or run multiple programs at the same time.
Buying it is the cheap part……having it put in is the part that will normally break the bank.
Laptops are not made to upgrade…..anyways dell doesnt make them for it. Gettign more memory will always be better and yes you will notice the difference if you use applications and require a good amount of work to run.
If you jsut use your laptop to go on the internet and stuff liek that it is NOT worth it.
If you have a dell gaming computer and use it for gaming it will be worth upgrading the laptop if you really really want to do it.
If you are a gaming GET A DESKTOP!
If you just use it for normal low level stuff dont bother with upgrading your ram.
