Suggestions for Gaming Laptop Upgrade?

I am looking to upgrade to a laptop that can run Empire: Total War on maximum settings, keeping in mind for the future that the games I would play on it would be mostly RTSs/Strategy games of the graphical variety (Empire: Total War, Dawn of War 2, Company of Hereos type stuff.)
I heard that the Alienware M17x was the best option. Is this true? If so, how should I configure it?

Why not just go desktop so you can keep upgrading the video card years down the road?
If you have the money to spend then yea, buy an alienware but I would make sure you get a good graphics card in it because its the ONLY one youre gonna get in there.

yes, the m17x is the most powerfull laptop on the market, but if you want all that power, you must go for all thr best options, which can get mighty expensive. but if you are willing to pay, it is the best you can get.
